Rena river is one of the most attractive rivers in Norway. It is allowed to fish all year in Løpsjøen up to Holmbo. The river is special in that the water is warm in winter and cool in summer. This means that the ice does not lie, except in the southern part of Løpsjøen. The good sport fishing usually begins in the latter half of June.
In the Rena river the fishing season is from 21 May to 30 November. The Rena river is popular, not without reason: It can be difficult to catch fish small enough to be kept. This is due to fishing rules stating that all wild fish of 40 cm or more should be put back in the river.
Upstream from Løpet powerplant, only one grayling and one trout less than 40 cm per day per fisherman can be caught, downstream it is three graylings and three trouts.
Fishing permit can be bought at these stores in Rena: Sport1, Intersport and the Mix-kiosk. Read more about the fishing in the Rena river here.
