Welcome to Basecamp Hotel, an honest and authentic hotel concept that will set the perfect mood for your Svalbard adventure. Inspired by the traditional Trapper's huts in the High Arctic, this hotel is worth the trip in itself.

This is the closest you will get to staying in your own private Trapper’s Hut. Basecamp Hotel is an authentic and unpretentious hotel with only 16 rooms. Situated in the heart of Longyearbyen, all amenities are within walking distance. Experience the synthesis of cultural history and elements of the raw and extreme landscapes of Svalbard.

Basecamp Hotel is a rustic hotel, decorated with recycled materials and artifacts dating back to the trapping days of Svalbard. The combination of our friendly staff and the characteristic hotel can make if feel as though you have been invited into the home of a true Svalbardian. The spacious rooms are constructed out of driftwood, lumber and other traditional building materials. The rooms have no TV, although free Wifi is available at the hotel. You are welcome to use our cosy loft on the second floor, where you will get a great view of the northern lights during the dark season and experience the sunny nights during summer.

Breakfast is served from 7-10am, and free coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available in the reception area. You will get the chance to meet like-minded adventure travelers, and the laid-back atmosphere will make it easy to forget about the outside world.

Basecamp Hotel is the perfect retreat for your Svalbard adventure. The surrounding mountain tops will inspire your inner adventurer and will have you longing to explore the Arctic wilderness. We recommend that you book your day trips and overnight trips in advance.
