This tour is conducted by Elements Arctic Camp. This is a private, all inclusive, personalized trip. Experience a spectacular Arctic Archipelago from our secluded eco-camp. Stay in a yurt, enjoy local food, and try winterkayaking, skiing and snowshoeing.

Get closer to nature with Elements Arctic Camp. Here you will get the "back to nature" feeling, getting nature close to body and mind. Our secluded camp is located on the beautiful island of Rebbenesøya, only a 2-hour scenic trip from Tromsø. You will stay in a cosy and comfortable yurt and enjoy local food. Just outside the doorsteps you will be able to go kayaking hiking and snowshoeing.

Our trips are ideal for families, couples and small groups who wish to experience something special and totally different from anything else. Your guide and host Lise is passionate, energetic, personal and adjust the trips to your experience, your wishes, and the weather. You don´t need any experience in either kayaking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

The camp is without road access and electricity, and we fetch water from a small stream nearby. We utilize solar energy and wind power, reuse and recycling are central to us. This is the place to experience - calmness, silence, a lot of weather and the charms of the arctic winter with its contrasts and beautiful colors. With no light pollution this is an amazing place for star gazing and experiencing the magical Northern Lights. You will get close to and learn about Arctic wildlife and coastal life and history. The camp is located nearby Nordkvaløya-Rebbenesøya Protected Landscape Area representative of the coastal culture in Troms, and several nature reserves. As well as the wonderful biological diversity, the area has a rich cultural heritage dating as far back as the Stone Age. There are significant sea-bird colonies (summertime) as well as other fauna, and Quaternary geology deposits.

Program
We will pick you up in the center of Tromsø or nearby, by appointment at 13:00. The journey to the camp is an adventure in itself, with a scenic 90-minute drive, and a 15-minute ferry ride to the island of Rebbenesøya. Then we have a 15-minute walk or snowshoe walk to the camp on a slightly hilly trail. After lodging and start heating the yurt, we make and eat a meal.
Wintertime can provide all kinds of weather and can change quickly, so we plan the days accordingly, as well as according to your experience and your wishes. Basically, we aim to go both kayaking both night- and daytime, snowshoeing and/or cross-country skiing.

The area offers fantastic trips both on land and at sea. You will paddle in crystal clear water along islands, around islets and sheaves with spectacular sceneries. By kayaking you will get close to nature in a fantastic way It is possible to get close to both sea eagles, otters, seals and various sea birds, and in the crystal-clear water you can also study the marine life under your kayak. Kayaking in the darkness will give you a special experience. If you are lucky you might experience the magical Northern Lights.

In addition to kayaking and as an alternative to kayaking or at bad weather, you will be able to to go cross-country skiing and/or snowshoeing. To hear and feel the crackling of snow and sliding along the snow is a nice experience. Cozy time around a bonfire is an important part of the trip.it is possible to go hiking in the area. We can also take a drive on the island combined with a mountain hike and visit some of the beautiful beaches. The island offers many great hiking opportunities.

The food is an important part of the trip and we use good ingredients as far as possible local. The guide and the guests make food and eat together, unless there are other wishes. Early in the winter season and at the end of the winter season when the days are longer and the temperature higher we will also make bonfires and barbecues, either during a paddle trip or at the camp. If possible, we also harvest mussels that we cook on the fire, a real delicacy.

Our yurts (a luxurious form of nomadic tent) are comfortable and cozy and become good and warm after a few hours of warming up. Here you will be able to enjoy yourself in front of the wood stove with your loved ones. Look forward to some good nights sleep in comfortable beds with high quality pillows and duvets.

If you wish, it might be possible to order a Sami experience, as we cooperate with Sami Johnny who lives on the island, a very nice experience.

We plan departure at 15:00. We will then be in Tromsø city at 18:00.

Look forward to something exceptional!
