Ski touring week with Lyngen Outdoor Centre

This is a comprehensive ski touring week – daily rides from summit to sea, with either boat sailing, stationary trips or car transport.

Lyngen Outdoor Center is an ultimate outdoor destination. Here is how they present themselves:

Based on Uløya island in the northeast part of the Lyngen Fjord, the Lyngen Outdoor Center offers a perfect base for all ski touring enthusiasst with trips on Uløya island and the mainland, as well as boat trips to neighbouring islands (Kagen, Arnøya) or the famous Lyngen Alps.

About Uløya
There are two small villages on the island of Uløya – Havnnes on the western side and Uløybukt on the eastern side. The Lyngen Outdoor Center is situated in Uløybukt, which is home to just a few people.Ski touring UløyaUløya offers a multitude of interesting ski tours, including the most famous – The Grand Traverse of Uløya – 20 km of ridge skiing from Uløybukt to Havnnes taking in the summits of Blåtinden (1142 m), Uløytinden (1114 m) and Kjelvagtinden (1104 m). You can also choose a steep direct run down from Blåtinden right to your doorstep or take a gentle but wonderful trip up Saeteraksla (956 m) to enjoy the view.
The eastern side offers almost vertical falling walls in contrast to the western side with much gentler slopes and amazing views towards the peaks of the Lyngen Alps.
Other routes on the nearby islands (e.g. Kågen island with its spectacular massif of Store Kågtinden) and on the mainland are easily accessible by boat.

Accommodation:
The base is in our comfortably furnished apartments in two houses located just 50m from the water's edge.
The apartments are comfortably equipped with everything you need for a home away from home. The kitchen is modern, clean and fully equipped with all the necessary equipment for a comfortable stay: plates, cutlery, pots, pans, coffee maker, electric kettle, oven and dishwasher. The living room is furnished with leather seating and has a traditional Norwegian fireplace. TV, DVD, and Wi-Fi (free) are all provided so you can stay connected with the outside world if you wish. In addition, there is a heated cellar that guests are welcome to use for storing skis, drying equipment/clothes and laundry facilities.

Transport:
We offer pick-up from Tromsø. Please add this when booking.

Local transport
To reach the surrounding mountains, we use our large and comfortable aluminium boats. We can sail to all nearby islands and the Lyngen Alps. The boat transport gives us great flexibility to choose the right summit depending on weather and snow conditions.

The guides:
Our experienced IVBV guides, with their excellent local knowledge, will help you get the most from your trip to Lyngen, showing you the best ski touring routes and the most spectacular climbs and hikes. As professionals, they will ensure your safety, provide thorough knowledge of the area, topography, maps and navigation equipment. They will help you raise your skills and advise you on all aspects of moving and surviving in the Arctic.

Our ski touring week includes guide, accommodation and boat transfers. You can add the transfers from Tromsø and full board.

The offer includes:

8 days/7 nights accommodation in apartments sleeping 4 or 8 persons (twin rooms)

Six trips on Uløya and mainland (available by nearby ferry and our van)

Up to 3 trips to neighbouring islands or Lyngen peninsula, skipper, 250l of fuel included (6-8 hrs sailing)

Additional boat transfers mainland-island (bringing you back in case of missing the ferry)

Boat transfers for arrival/departure (in the absence of the ferry)

Optional sea fishing trip + equipment

Guide – guiding by experienced and highly qualified IVBV guides, experts on the region, renowned skiers and alpinists, including a 9-seat van with fuel for trips on a mainland. This option includes six guided trips in total.

Requirements:
You should be prepared for ski tours of 4-8 hours and 600-1400 m in height. Experience in ski touring is an advantage but not a must. It's important for us that everyone can enjoy the tours. For the more ambitious ascents, kick-turn technique is required and experience with crampons is an advantage.
