This tour is conducted by Rødne Fjord Cruise. Enjoy watching wild whales and orcas in the magical blue twilight of Polar Night aboard a modern, warm and comfortable sightseeing catamaran during this guided tour from Tromsø.
We set off in search of wild Humpback whales and orcas (Killer Whales) early in the morning. MS Rygerdronningen, one of Norway’s newest, biggest and most comfortable sightseeing boats, takes us to where these graceful giants feed on herring. You can whale watch through the panoramic windows of the warm cabin and then step out into the brisk Arctic air for a look from our spacious decks.
Even though the sun doesn’t rise in Tromsø, some 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, between 27 November and 15 January, there are still hours of magical, blue twilight for part of the day. The cruise through breathtaking fjord landscapes is a bonus.
MS Rygerdronningen is the perfect boat for comfortable whale watching in the cold, far north. Its twin-hull catamaran design makes it stable even in rough seas, and it is fast; with a top speed of nearly 20 knots so we can quickly reach the whales. It even has a snackbar selling food as well as hot and cold drinks.
While our expert crews will do everything possible to find whales for you, there is no guarantee since these are wild animals. But if you don’t see whales or orcas, we will give a free ticket to the next available whale safari on our boat. The guarantee can only be used once.
The duration of the cruise can vary depending on the whales’ location.
